“Um, what about Motoyama and the others?…”
My father nodded his head.
“He explained everything to me, but I can’t get my head around their circumstances. Well, whatever it was, you were the one who told them to block off the road, right? Anyway, I told the police that I was the one who told them to block the road so that the thugs wouldn’t escape and they bought it, so it’s all good.”
Thank God. That meant they didn’t get into any trouble.
“Um, back then, did an accident involving a truck happen?”
“Accident?”
He raised his eyebrows.
I was curious about the truck that hit me, but I couldn’t exactly tell him the details about it…

Anna cut into our conversation.
“There was an accident near Komazawa Park on that day. People from my school were gossiping about it. A truck driver fell asleep on the road and the truck crashed into a tree on the side of the road.”
There, that was the information that I wanted. So, the driver fell asleep, no wonder the truck was rammed into that minivan without any sign of slowing down.
“How do you know about all this, Yuuma?”
My mother leaned forward, her eyes filled with concern. “Should we get you checked again?” she asked impatiently.
“N-No, it’s okay, I’m fine… A-Anyway, Anna, that accident…did someone die in that accident?”
“No, the tree fell down and that was it. The truck collided violently, but the driver survived. Everyone was talking about how high the quality of the truck’s airbag was.”
Ah, thank God someone else didn’t end up dying in my place.
The feeling of relief made me feel so sleepy and I let out a loud yawn.
Seeing that, my mother sent me another worried look.
“You should mind your own condition. Should I call the nurse? Or do you think you’ll be okay if you just go to bed right now?”
As I heard her voice, I’ve already half dozed off. I felt a soft touch on my body. My mother put the blanket on me.
It felt like I became a little kid again. I remembered the time when the Yamaoka family first took me in. Back then, she used to do this to me all the time.
I relaxed my body. My whole body ached, but that was probably because I’ve been sleeping for so long. It felt weird that I felt sleepy after all that sleeping though.
“I’ll get some more sleep…”
“Mm, you do that. Go to sleep quickly and get better soon so you’ll get discharged early.”
My father laughed.
“I have the feeling that when you get out of the hospital, our family will be able to live an even happier life.”
