The Happiness That The Shinigami Gave Me - Final Volume Chapter 1
Final Volume Chapter 1
They called an ambulance on me and brought me to the hospital. I received kicks to the head and some part of my body still bled profusely, I needed both an examination and treatment.
Actually, I had no memories of that at all. After knowing that we’d been saved, I immediately lost consciousness. It felt like I slept for a long time.
When I opened my eyes, I was already in the hospital bed, both my parents were there, crying their eyes out, waiting for me to wake up.
“I thought you wouldn’t wake up…”
My mother held my hand, while my father supported my back.
Seeing my father’s face, all my memories came flooding back.
I died and I was on the verge of giving up. It felt like I wouldn’t be able to survive the second chance that the shinigami gave me.
But, at that moment of despair, my father rushed to my side with a golf putter in his hand.
“Dad…you were cool…”
When I said that, he let out a chuckle.
“You’re even cooler than me, though. Protecting two girls while knowing that you’d get beaten up like that. About those two girls, they were also hospitalized just in case, but they’ve already been discharged. Soon, they’ll see a therapist.”
“I see,” I said with a groan. While it was true that their lives were saved, that wouldn’t erase the fear and anxiety that they felt. Realizing it made me feel worried.
“They won’t be the only ones who’ll go there, you will too. But, you’ll need to get better first.”
I nodded before asking.
“I understand, but…how did you come to save me…?”
“Ask Kento about that.” My father said before he looked behind him.
Kento and Anna were there, leaning against the wall. Anna’s eyes were bright red.
My brother approached my bed with an awkward stride and explained everything.
“Didn’t you tell me to call the police? It was unusual of you to talk to me, so I immediately called 110. But, well, there wasn’t enough information…” [TLN: 110 is the Japan Emergency Hotline]
He scratched his head.
“So, while I was stuck on the phone, Dad got home.”
My father was surprised to find out that one of his sons was having a conversation with the police.
“It’s easier to convince him than trying to convince the police with so little information, so we got in the car and went to Komazawa Park directly.”
“Seeing you all battered from being beaten up was scary,” he added.
“Well, I gave the police their mug shots, and they left their car behind too, so they should be arrested soon.”
“…Thank you very much…”
“Don’t mention it. I didn’t get beaten up like you did.”
He let out a sigh before laughing,
It felt strange. Before I knew it, I was having a normal conversation with Kento, someone who I ignored for so long.
