Chapter 1.2
TLN: Enjoy The Chapter~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After returning from my walk, I changed into my uniform and ate breakfast. It was still around seven o’clock in the morning.
Dad was not home, probably at work, and Mom said she had to work part-time in the morning.
So my little sister Kotono was the only one in the living room.
Kotono was wearing a loose camisole and tight shorts. I know it’s easy to move around in those clothes, but isn’t it too revealing? Dad would be sad to see her like this.
“Onii, today is the 『Day of Destiny』right?! So what kind of 『Fated Person』does Onii have!?”
She’s wearing some thin clothes, so I would appreciate it if she’d stop leaning forward over the table.
Sanada Kotono, a third year junior high school student, and also my little sister.
Even though she was just a junior high school student, her body and appearance are so mature that it was easy to believe that she was a college student.
Despite only being one year younger than me, she was very energetic and lively like an elementary schooler.
It’s a bit sad that she hadn’t grown out of her older brother yet. But as an older brother, I’m happy about it.
She’s an adult on the outside, but a little child on the inside. That’s my little sister.
Kotono pestered me, with her dark brown eyes (the same as mine) shining brightly, and her brown ponytail swaying around.
“Nee, Onii! Tell me please! It’s not like it’s going to get worse~”
“I don’t really care who she is.”
“That’s not good! She’s going to be my future Onee-chan, you know!?”
“No, it’s not like we’re going to get married…”
“Tsk, tsk, tsk. You really don’t get it, do you, Onii?”
She’s making me want to slap her because she’s acting like a foreigner. (EDN: racist mc wtf)
“There’s a saying that if anyone doesn’t marry their 『Fated Person』is a ‘Retort’ this day and age.”
“It’s ‘Retro.’”
“It’s the same thing!”
What’s the point, idiot?
Kotono sat cross-legged in her chair and bit into her toast. She’s a girl, so she shouldn’t act so vulgarly.
“*Gulp*…Oh yeah, personally, I like Riran-tan, Because she seems to get along very well with you, Onii.”
“Nguu…” (EDN: choking sfx)
As for being my sister, isn’t she too intuitive?
“Ah~ mou~ what are you doing? Here, have some water.”
I drank the water I received in one gulp and exhaled.
…I couldn’t tell her. I really couldn’t tell her that she’s the one.
It was when I was in the third grade and Kotono was in the second grade. One day when I went shopping with my mother, I ran into Kuonji at the supermarket. We had bumped into each other.
Then, our usual exchange broke out there.
Kotono, who was watching from the side, liked the cute-looking Kuonji and judged that we were very good friends when she saw how me and Kuonji interacted with each other.
So If Kotono knew that Kuonji and I were connected with the 『Red Thread Of Fate』…
It’s definitely going to be troublesome.
I sipped down my coffee, trying to remain extremely calm.
“That’s impossible. As we learned in class, the Red Thread of Fate connects you to someone in the world, as long as you are the same age, so what are the odds that it’s a girl from my class?”
“Eh, you’re the same class as Riran-tan!? Now that’s fate!”
…I’ve dug my own grave. I should probably leave as soon as possible.
“No, we’re not in the same class. Thanks for the food.”
“You’re already leaving? Can you take me home on your bike again?”
“I’m on morning duty today, so I can’t give you a ride.”
“Why are you prattling like that…All right, I understand. Take care~”
“Yeah, and don’t be late all right, Kotono?”
I patted Kotono on the head and smiled. If only she were half as affectionate as Kotono.
…I was thinking about Kuonji again. I really hate this “Red Thread of Fate” thing.
I left the house at 7:30 in the morning. I could have left at 8:00 a.m. if I wanted to, but I had to go to school early because I had something to do in the morning.
Before homeroom, I had to distribute the handouts from the teacher and wipe the blackboard clean…It was a tedious rule.
I rode my bike through the residential area and came to a main street called Ichou Street.
On a normal day, since it was still early in the morning, there are usually no students heading to school, and if there were, it would only be the athletic teams that have morning practice…But there were a lot of people today, and they were of the same grade color as me (red).
“My Fated Person is so handsome!”
“My Fated Person is an American.”
“Mine’s subtle, but the moment he popped into my head, I thought, ‘Oh, he’s the only one.'”
Ah…I see. They were talking about what kind of people their Fated Persons were.
…It’s getting difficult to say it…
With these classmates by my side, I pedaled up the hill leading to Ginnan Prefectural High School.
The slope was a little steep, but it was just right for me.
“Hey, hey, hey~! You’re here, Akito!”
“Akki~ morning.”
“Hmm? Oh, what are you guys doing here?”
One was a giant with an aloof face and brown hair. Kurashiki Ryūya, a large man over 190 centimeters tall.
The other one had a twin-tailed hairstyle and a drowsy look on her eyes. Jūmonji Neika, a 140cm tall loli.
They were both my friends from junior high school, and they were well aware of how bad my relationship was with Kuonji.
We parked our bicycles in the parking lot and headed for the school building together.
“What’s up with you guys? You’re awfully early today.”
“Mou~ Akito’s so mean~ you know why I’m here, right~♪”
I’m going to punch this guy in the face.
“Today is the 『The Day of Destiny』so let’s talk about it Akki!”
I knew who my Fated Person was, but I can’t talk about it…It’s me and Kuonji after all. She was a natural enemy of mine who would bite me every time we met. We’re like water and oil or dogs and monkeys.
If they knew that she and I were connected by the Red Thread of Fate–
『Seriously? You’re serious right? Ohmyghad! I’ll spread the word to everyone in my group!』
『kekekeke, I’ll spread the word, too!』
That’s what they would do for sure. So, I couldn’t let that happen, for her sake too…
What do I mean for her sake? Why do I have to worry about her?
“You guys don’t know much about the person I’m going to talk about.”
“Well, just describe the features of the person who pops inside your head.”
“What comes to mind about your Fated Person, Akki?”
The features that came to my mind, huh…she’s cute.
Wait, she’s NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!
“Hey, Akito, calm down!”
“Akki~ you shouldn’t hit your head on the shoe box, you’ll hurt it.”
“Nei, worry about Akito a little more…”
Damn, why do I have to be so happy and sad about Kuonji…?
“What’s wrong Akito? Is it a bad day for you? Let’s raise your spirits up! Hey, hey, hey, he~ey!”
“Hey, hey, hey, he~ey! Is it working, Akki!?”
“I don’t know about Ryūya, but Neika doesn’t look very excited at all.”
“It’s because that’s just who we are.”
I knew that.
It felt relaxing to see the two of them unchanged. I wish Neika was the one I was meant to be with.
…No, that’s impossible.
Then, while I was talking with them, two female students came in through the large doors of the school entrance.
“Come on~ Riran-chan, just tell me who your Fated Person is.”
“I told you, he’s not that great…! Ah…”
Ah…Kuonji.
The other side noticed me and our eyes met. She looked uncomfortable for a moment, but then she immediately raised her eyebrows.
“…What? You got a problem with me?”
“Nothing~”
“Just so you know, I’m only here early in the morning because I have something to do with Rion.”
“No, I didn’t ask.”
“”Hmph!””
I turned my back and left the place as quickly as I could to get away from Kuonji.
“Hey, Akito, wait!”
“Later, Riran, Rion.”
Ryūya and Neika followed me. Then,I covered my mouth with my hand and pretended to yawn so that they would not notice.
If I didn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to resist the…smile on my face because I was so glad and enjoyed the casual interaction with…her.
“Huh? Riran-chan, you’ve got a big smile on your face, you know?”
“I-I-I-I-I-It’s not like that!”
Thanks for the chapter XD
Yes, it’s a boy being stupid for almost no reason… and a girl not being honest for no reason… and them having relationship troubles just because they are being dumb for no reason…
Seriously… why do authors force drama in stories that don’t need it???
Seriously, cuteness can often be more than enough for a story…
Like, for example “Date This Super Cute Me” (great story) the best parts of the story were the shorts that had no real drama and the chapters that were more about them just enjoying themselves or getting into accidental situations…
Though I guess kids having drama cause they are dumb kids kinda makes sense…
