I jumped to my feet violently in shock.

‘What was that?’ I looked around, wiping off my cold sweat.

It felt as if I was struck by lightning, but I was still in my room. Nothing changed, and I felt no pain.

Was that just a strange dream? I couldn’t remember it anymore.

As I tried to calm down my heart, my eyes drifted toward my phone.

Suzuno texted me. A minute ago, she called me. The shock I received was probably coming from her call since I placed my phone right underneath my pillow before sleeping.

That was the content of her text. I could feel the chill emanating from my phone screen.

The text continued.

My sleepiness was blown away. I immediately sent her a reply, ‘Where are you?’

[Komazawa Park.]

I grabbed my phone and dashed out of the room.

If I took my bike, I’d arrive at the park in a few minutes.

At the entrance of my house, I sent her a text.

[I’m coming. Where in Komazawa Park are you at?]

But I got no reply from her. I could feel a chill running down my spine.

Gritting my teeth, I endured the uneasiness I felt and slipped on my shoes.

Before I could grab the door handle, it was opened from the other side. It was Kento, he had just come home. Normally, I’d give way to him, but there was no time for that, so I pushed him and stormed out of the door.

I could feel someone was trying to talk to me from deep within my body. A loud sound of a bell chimed.

‘The fateful day has come.’
