My Sister's Best Friend? My Female Friend Already? Then, What's Next―? - V1 Chapter 11
Because of this delicate atmosphere, we gradually began to talk less, but we went home together to the fork in the road.
“Nii-san, welcome home… what’s that smell?”
When we got back home, my sister also mentioned the smell of the antiperspirant that the chairperson had sprayed on me.
“Does it really smell that bad!?”
“It’s not too bad, but you’d be surprised at how it doesn’t match your image. Have you finally found yourself a woman?”
“How can you say that?”
Haruki, and my sister, have such a bad way with words.
I don’t know where they learn to use such bad language.
I don’t care if it’s Haruki, a man, but I don’t want my sister to talk to me in this unpleasant way.
“The meaning is the same, so there’s no problem. I thought it would be a good idea for Nii-san to have someone like that in your life.”
“It was just a prank played by a friend of mine. Or rather, I don’t want to be told that by a young kid who just started high school.”
“What’s the big deal, we’re only a year apart. I actually have a boyfriend.”
“No, no, it’s nothing to be surprised about, I don’t invite him over like Rin does, so there’s no need to tell him.”
“Well, yeah, I guess so…”
My sister is a family member of mine, but I think her looks are usually neat.
She’s not the same as the Chairman, but her personality is cheerful and friendly, which may make her more popular.
But I hadn’t shown any of that kind of vibe, so she made a shocking remark.
“Well, we go to different high schools, so I don’t know how long it will last without getting cold.”
“Since you’re saying that, isn’t it possible that you yourself have already cooled off?”
“Maybe. I’m busy right now, and he’s always asking when we’ll meet again.”
My sister says it’s easy to build friendships, but I have the image that she’s not really interested in relationships.
It was just as I imagined it would be, and since she was talking about it as if it were someone else’s business, it seemed like they were about to break up.
…My sister might be the kind of person who, if she gets into a relationship, will just swing around and around.
“Is this boyfriend of yours from my high school?”
“No, he’s not. He took the test, but he failed and went to a private school, so he’s not there.”
But I think it’s better for me personally to have a light-hearted relationship like this.
What’s more, ever since I entered high school, topics about relationships between men and women have been getting more and more complicated, so this level of conversation is stress-free and not bad.
…If he had tried to take her home like I did with Rin-chan, I would have crushed him.
“Well, if you break up with him, you can go out with someone else in high school that you’re comfortable with and get along with.”
“You’re getting good at this…”
My sister is no longer a step ahead of me.
“Incidentally, isn’t this prankster supposed to be cute or something?”
“She’s cute. It’s not nice to rate her this way, but she’s at least one of the top five girls in our grade.”
“Really? When it comes to pranks, is she one of those cute girls who does that to everyone?”
“Hmmm… I don’t know! But I don’t feel like she’s a pretender and a b*tch.”
But I can’t say that I’ve ever seen her go that far into it.
“I’m in a position like you, but I’m in a completely different direction.
“That’s a troublesome way of putting it. Put it in a clearer way!”
“She’s cheerful, but she’s not like you!”
“Hee~, that sounds good. Why don’t you try hitting on her?”
“It was stupid of me to keep talking.”
She asked me for a clear explanation, and I thought she would give me some useful advice, but all I got was Haruki-like sh*tty opinions.
In the first place, I’m finished when I expect advice from my sister, who doesn’t want to lose.
This is what people say about me, but I feel like I’m friends with the Chairman.
“Eh, don’t you usually appeal to them?”
“Hmm, I can’t believe it. …Oh. Maybe it’s because you’re watching over Rin, Nii-san?”
Suddenly, my sister said something that linked me to Rin-chan.
In an instant, I felt an unpleasant chill run through my body.
“No, it’s just that since you’ve seen Rin’s level, you’ve gotten used to seeing cute girls in a bad way, and you’ve become too relaxed.”
“Oh, I see.”
Safe. Unfortunately, there’s no such thing as getting used to seeing cute girls.
I still can’t keep my heart from beating when Rin-chan stares at me.
I’m probably a small fish who can’t make eye contact with the chairman for more than three seconds.
“If you’re close to a girl who’s one of the top five girls in the world, you should be able to talk to her. If you can’t even do that, what kind of man are you?”
“No matter how ahead you are, I don’t want you to talk about men.”
I feel like my thoughts are relatively close to a man’s, but that doesn’t mean I want to be ruined by my sister.
Or rather, the Chairman said that she doesn’t like that kind of pushy people.
“You’re really extravagant, aren’t you, living in school with not only Rin, but someone as cute as her? Maybe it’s not worth it if you can’t get a girlfriend to make up for it.”
“Maybe, I guess.”
My sister said with a smirk.
“Nii-san’s calmness is so strong that I can safely say that you and Rin are getting along just fine. Thank you for your support.”
My younger sister, who basically does nothing but diss me, only trusts me at times like this.
Like Rin-chan, she also trusts me unnecessarily.
When she relies on me like this, it makes me think that she’s cute, even though she’s usually cocky.
However, Rin-chan’s trust in me and my sister’s trust in me seem to be the same, but they are in different directions.
I didn’t realize that the subtle misunderstanding caused by not being able to honestly confide in my sister would lead to something like this.
As I always think, I couldn’t help but feel regret that I had made it a difficult issue.
“…Let’s just get ready for dinner.”
“Mhm, good luck today. I’ll be the one preparing it next week, anyway.”
“Don’t you have club activities?”
“I do, but it’s a casual one. I’ll probably be home before Nii-san. You don’t have to worry about the housework, just support Rin!”
“If Rin’s grades drop, I’ll treat you like garbage, Nii-san.”
For some reason, I can’t stand the thought of being treated like trash by my sister who still gets along with me.
Even though it was only her friend that was involved, I had to meet the expectations of my sister who was very supportive.
Sorry for the lack of updates, I got sick and vaccinated for the entire month of January along with the my other family members. We’re all fine now so no need to worry. I’ll update more once I finish Cute Fiancee v1 and finish this novel next.
