When I was about to leave after my part-time job, Tanaka-kun spoke to me.
Lately, he has been talking to me a lot. Rather, it’s become a routine for me to talk to him at the end of my shift.
He talks to me for one reason: relationship advice. I give him advice from time to time, and before I knew it, he and I were in a consulting relationship.
I’m not dissatisfied with this relationship itself. I enjoy listening to him, and I’m willing to help as much as I can.
There’s just one problem. That is… I’m the one he likes. What are you talking about? You may think. But it’s me, more precisely, it’s me at school.

It’s not that my family is poor. In fact, it’s more on the wealthy side. I get money I need every month, and probably more if I ask for it.
I just didn’t want to touch the money he gave me. I didn’t want to be in a situation where I was dependent on someone who’s a lousy parent and human being.
Of course, you could say it’s the resistance of a child, and it’s not wrong. Still, I don’t want to rely on that man. I couldn’t forgive him.
If I’m not using the money I get from that person, I’ll have to earn money for myself.
However, part-time jobs are prohibited at school. I heard it’s allowed depending on family circumstances, but it needs parent approval. I didn’t want to ask, so I decided to disguise myself and sneak a part-time job so I wouldn’t be noticed.
Fortunately, I’m confident in my makeup skills, having been taught by my mother. It’s easy to make my face look plain, so it would look distinct from my normal face.
And just to be on the safe side, I also changed my family name to my mother’s maiden name, Hiiragi. …I think I may have subconsciously wanted to keep a connection with my mother.
The manager questioned me at first because I was going out of my way to ask him to change my name tag, but when I told him it’s a family matter, he didn’t pursue the matter further. Perhaps he guessed my parents divorced or something.
If I changed my family name only at my part-time job, and dress modestly to not stand out, I wouldn’t be recognized even if I was meeting someone from my school.
I took all possible precautions and started working, and fortunately, even a year later now, I continue doing so without anyone finding out.
The manager is nice, the other staff are kind, and it’s a very comfortable place to work. I was able to earn enough to survive.
One day, I was thinking that I would continue working like this until I graduate, quietly and secretly, so that no one would find out about it.
I met someone new at my part-time job.
